Realme 6 Pro vs Redmi Note 9 Pro: Camera comparison
Reality 6 Pro is a handset with four rear cameras. On the backside is the 64 megapixels Samsung GW1 primary sensor. Its aperture is F / 1.8. Camera setup comes with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle shooter, a 12-megapixel telephoto camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro is also a smartphone with four rear cameras. It has a 48 megapixel Samsung ISOCELL GM2 primary camera. It has an 8-megapixel secondary camera with a 120-degree wide-angle lens, a 5-megapixel third camera, and a 2-megapixel depth camera.
The camera apps of both phones look similar, but they are slightly different from each other in features. For example, the camera app of Realme 6 Pro has a toggle button for 5x zoom. Night mode can be used with wide-angle and selfie cameras. Even in this, you can enable ‘Ultra Steady’ stabilization mode while shooting video. The Redmi Note 9 Pro also has some cool features, such as ‘short video’ recording mode, shortcuts to open Google Lens and easy access shortcuts to change video resolution or switch to macro mode.
During the day, the primary sensors of both phones take pictures in good detail, as well as HDR also works well. Theda warm tone appears in pictures taken from the Redmi Note 9 Pro. In contrast, Realme 6 Pro comes with picture balanced tone. Wide-angle shots are also good, but the quality and details in both phones are slightly reduced compared to the primary camera sensor.
There is no lack of detail in the macro shots taken on both smartphones, but in our tests, we found that Realme 6 Pro increased the color red a lot. When it comes to excessive close-ups, Redmi Note 9 Pro took better macro shots than Realme 6 Pro due to its high-resolution macro sensor.
Realme 6 Pro’s camera setup supports 2x optical zoom. We got some sharp details and good color pictures in it. The Redmi Note 9 Pro also gave a good output with its 2x digital zoom, but close comparisons showed that photos taken from the Realme 6 Pro came with slightly better sharpness and detail.
Selfies come on camera. Realme 6 Pro captured our subject’s face with better skin tone and better detail. HDR was not very effective here, but the good thing is that the selfie itself came with very good exposure. Redmi Note 9 Pro exposes the background better, but the face of our subject was quite dark, which also lacked detail. The wide-angle front camera of Reality 6 Pro is quite useful, as it allows you to bring a lot of people in one frame.
The Realme 6 Pro clearly performs better than the Redmi Note 9 Pro in a low-light landscape. Good exposure to the object is seen in pictures taken in the dark from Reality 6 Pro. By switching to night mode, the camera of Realme 6 Pro gets better, but the interesting thing is that the photo with night mode of Note 9 Pro also does not look bad, or there is not much difference between the two. Shooting with the wide-angle cameras of both phones at night provides poor results, but the Realme 6 Pro also offers the option of using night mode for this sensor, which improves things a bit.
Talking of close-up shooting in low light, the Redmi Note 9 Pro actually struggles a bit to set focus on small objects like flowers, while the Realme 6 Pro has no problem. After several attempts, the Note 9 Pro finally managed to lock focus, but the photos were not as exposé and detail as those taken with Realme 6 Pro.
With slightly larger subjects and better lighting, at first glance, the photos taken from the Note 9 Pro look better. While the details of the photos in the Redmi Note 9 Pro were good, the Realme 6 Pro handled the white balance better. If you look carefully at the tiles on the floor in our sample shots, then you will see more detail in the picture taken with Realme 6 Pro.
When we tried to use Realme 6 Pro’s optical zoom camera in low light, we got some very good results. The Redmi Note 9 Pro also captures good pictures with its 2x digital zoom, but sharpen the subject in the photo.
Both smartphones can record 4K videos, but at this resolution, the lack of stability in the video is clearly visible. Videos taken with both phones in good light come with fairly good detail, but the Note 9 Pro increases the colors a bit, especially the blue shade. However, stabilization comes in handy for smoothing video recorded at 1080p on both phones and here we found that the Redmi Note 9 Pro works a little better.
In low light, we found the quality of the video of Realme 6 Pro slightly better, because this video was quite bright. At 1080p, both phones offer good video with stabilization, but this brings some distortion to the video. Wide-angle videos look blurry and dull, as this sensor on both phones is weaker than the primary camera.
