The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) may soon implement its National Tariff Order (NTO) 2.0 for DTH and cable TV subscribers.

Main differences Between NTO 2.0 and NTO 1.0

Channels doubled at the same price:

In NTO 1.0, subscribers need to pay higher Network Capacity Fee 130 Rs (NCF) for 100 channels. And, Rs 153 price after tax. At the same time, NTO 2.0, 200 channels will be available to subscribers at a base charge of Rs 130 the same as NTO 1.0. If NTO 2.0 gets established, users will get twice channels at the same price.

Multi TV service will have to pay a 40% fee: Now it is difficult to say how many people are using this service. But, this service is very beneficial for corporates and hotels. In NTO 1.0, TRAI was not offering any discount in NCF to users for multi TV connections.

Dish TV and D2h Airtel DTH Plans / Tata Sky DTH Plans

Dish TV and D2h, they started providing secondary connections for Rs 50 to woo users and attract them. Same time, Airtel Digital TV is charging Rs 80 for this. Let us tell you that this is the NCF fee. However, Tata Sky users have to pay NCF charges of Rs 130 only.

NTO 2.0

Let’s talk about NTO 2.0. There are indications that this problem will be corrected after its implementation. In this, users will have to pay a 40 percent NCF fee for multi TV connection. If this happens, users will benefit greatly.

Paid Channels Will Cost Less:

TRAI did not allow broadcasters to price any or individual channel beyond Rs 12. In such a situation, broadcasters had to reduce the price of the channel to add a channel to the pack. In such a situation, the price of channel packs under NTO 2.0 will be available with a discount of up to 80 percent. In such a scenario, users will be able to take packs without having an individual channel. This will also reduce their monthly packs cost.
