Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah will be released after his son and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. He was taken into custody following the decision to remove special state status from Jammu and Kashmir and divide it into two union territories.
In the same month, while hearing the petition of Omar Abdullah’s sister Sara Abdullah, the Supreme Court had asked the Jammu and Kashmir administration to tell by next week whether Umar Abdullah is being released or not? Also, the court said that if you are releasing Omar Abdullah, then release him soon or we will hear his sister’s petition against custody. Significantly, along with Omar Abdullah, PDP chief and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti are also in custody.
After removing Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, along with Farooq Abdullah, hundreds of leaders were detained. Omar Abdullah’s father Farooq Abdullah has been released on 13 March. Omar Abdullah was detained without any charge, but later the government imposed a PSA on him. Along with this, PSA was also imposed against Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti.
