Mumbai Rain: 4 killed, 4 injured due to heavy rain

Mumbai: At least 3 people have died due to short-circuit caused by heavy rainfall while 4 people were injured after a retaining wall collapsed at Senapati Bapat Marg in Dadar today.
The injured were admitted to a local hospital and are out of danger. Earlier a 52-year-old died due to electrocution near Mumbai’s check post.
After a prolonged dry spell, heavy rain lashed city, it continued to take place in Mumbai and nearby areas since early morning. Waterlogging affected low-lying areas like Hindmata, Andheri, Sakinaka, etc. However, a lot of people took a ‘sigh of relief’.
Water filled roads in areas like Andheri, Kurla, Matunga, Thane, Vasai, Nalaspora, etc. Power supply was cut in Bandra and Chembur. Traffic jams affected the commuters in several parts of the city including Dharavi and Western Express Highway.
Local trains are running 10-15 minutes late while flight services are also disrupted. As per weather forecast, Mumbai and its nearby areas will continue to receive moderate to heavy rainfall today.
As per Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 43.23 millimeters of rain has taken place, 64.14 affected in mm in higher areas and 78.21 in lower areas.
Congress MLA Amin Patel blamed ‘corruption’ in the currently run BMC under Shiv Sena as reason behind water logging.
Disaster management department has said that Mumbai has received moderate rainfall in past few hours. No severe cases of casuality has been reported. They are keeping a close eye at the situation.
