Indian premiere league is most awaited tournament series that every cricket fan waits eagerly every year. Recently, the player auction for IPL 2020 happened in Kolkata on 19th December,2019 and the bidding process started in the middle of famous cricket celebrities.
Kolkata knight riders whose franchise is owned by the superstar Shah Rukh Khan, actress Juhi Chawla and her spouse Jay Mehta had spent Rs 59 crore from their stores for this IPL Auction 2020.
Kolkata knight rider squad players:
Dinesh Karthik, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Andre Russell, Kuldeep Yadav, Lockie Ferguson, Nitish Rana, Prasidh Krishna, Rahul Tripathi, Rinku Singh, Sandeep Warrier, Harry Gurney, Shubman Gill, Siddhesh Lad, Sunil Narine, Pat Cummins, Eoin Morgan, Nikhil Naik, Varun Chakravarthy, Tom Banton, Shivam Mavi, Chris Green, M Siddharth, and Praveen Tambe,
The KKR invested most of its money on Lynn (Rs 9.60 crore), Starc (Rs 9.40 crore) and Karthik (Rs 7.40 crore) and on the day 2, they just left with 6.2 crores to buy 6 remaining players in their squad.
The managing director of the Kolkata knight riders, Venky Mysore informed media that the whole management of the KKR team is eager to work with the players that they bought in the IPL Auction 2020. But it seems like the real scenario is different from the picture that is being portrayed by the management.
In this IPL auction 2020, on the first day, the KKR left the auction room as they already spent all their money on the players and still, they managed to gain least players in their squad they scored 19 players out of the maximum limit of 25.
Even after, investing a lot of money, they are left with the confusion as they have minimum options available to chose from different slots.
The KKR team is yet to decide the caption of their team as the team has spent the big amount on the first day of the auction and they didn’t buy any popular candidates for this duty. Yet, Dinesh Karthik and the Robin Uthappa can be appointed for the job but only time can reveal the mystery of who will be the caption of the team. The KKR had already spent lot of money on their overseas players such as Mitchell Starc (Rs 9.40 crore), Dinesh Karthik (Rs 7.40 crore ) and Chris Lynn (Rs 9.60 crore) while using the Right to Match cards on Kuldeep Yadav (Rs 5.80 crore), Piyush Chawla (Rs 4.20 crore) and Robin Uthappa (Rs 6.40 crore).
Its indeed a sad story for the team as its players Manish Pandey (Rs 11 lakh) and Surya Kumar Yadav (Rs 3.20 crore), shifted to Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad respectively.
In their present squad, no player other than Kuldeep Yadav and Karthik can be considered more effective as the rest of them don’t have any record of featuring in the national selection for the team.
In the current squad, there is no option available as a replacement for the injured players during the IPL.
