IPL event could start but the 14-day quarantine will be a big problem.
- Former IPL Chief Executive Sundar Raman said- If the tournament is canceled, global cricket will not be able to bear the loss
- BCCI postponed indefinitely IPL from March 29 due to coronavirus and lockdown
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) expects the Indian Premier League (IPL) to be held this year. BCCI CEO Rahul Johri said that IPL could happen after the rain. Foreign players will also be involved in this. According to Rahul, the 14-day quarantine before the tournament will be a major problem.
The BCCI postponed the IPL indefinitely on 14 April due to coronavirus and lockdown. The tournament was to be held on 29 March. Currently, BCCI is looking for a window for the IPL.
IPL will not be easy in October-November
Rahul said during the TMC Sports Huddle webinar, “IPL is one of the best entertainment for the fans. This tournament may be possible in October-November, but it is not going to be that easy. When the real battle starts again everyone must quarantine themselves before playing. We have to see how it will affect the program. ”
Actually, the T20 World Cup is to be held in Australia from 18 October to 15 November. If the sports giants are to be believed, then the IPL can be possible only in the event of the cancellation of the World Cup. While the World Cup is likely to be postponed.
Cricket gets 40 percent revenue from IPL
Former IPL chief executive Sundar Raman said, “The cancellation of the tournament will cause considerable loss to the BCCI financially.” Global cricket will not be able to bear this loss. The IPL fetches around 40 percent of the revenue of global cricket. There will be a huge loss due to its cancellation. ”
Recently, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Treasurer Arun Dhumal said that the IPL cancellation would result in a loss of around Rs.4,000 crore.
There is only one window for IPL this year: Gaikwad
BCCI Apex Council member Anshuman Gaikwad said, “I think T20 World Cup will not happen this year. We can’t say anything about the IPL right now. Whether or not this tournament happens will depend on the situation in India. There is only one window for this year and that is October-November instead of the T20 World Cup. If the World Cup is canceled or postponed, only IPL can be held in that case. But even then it remains to be seen what the circumstances of India were at that time.
