The Jatayu, a bird statue is made on a dedicated devotee of lord Rama found in the religious epic, Ramayana. Challenges in the making
Scarcity of Uninterrupted Water Resource
The tourist site is situated on the hill named Jatayu pura in the village chadayamangalam in the Kerala. A proper supply of water source was not available on the sight. So a check dam was constructed in order to compensate this issue. The check dam was constructed between two rock valley with a water conservation facility and a capacity of 20 lakh liters of water. The issue of water scarcity on the site was then resolved by the collection and storage of rainwater. This manually constructed arrangement of water source enriched the flora of the site.
The Need of Proper Power Supply
The need of proper electric power supply was compensated by the solar power plants. For the proper functioning of the Jatayu earth center, the whole primary generation of electricity is based on the solar power generation.
The money invested for the making of this tourist attraction was not a part of our tax which we pay to our government to provide us a basic facility for our livelihood. it is funded by NRIs and private equity holders.
Story of Jatayu
The bird whose name was Jatayu is found in the Hindu mythology. In the holy epic Ramayana, the bird Jatayu is portrayed as of the holy origin. One day, the bird heard a plaintative cry of a women who was abducted by the Ravana, the antagonist of the Ramayana. After hearing the lament, it flew in the sky near the Pushpak Vahana to rescue Sita from the Ravan’s custody. The bird was old and weak. The powerful Ravana slashed his wings and thrash him down with the use of some couple of bows. Then the Ravana flew away with the Sita. The bird was on his deathbed. Just before he was about to die, the ram and lakshmana came and talked to him. The Jatayu told the whole story and redirected them towards the south direction.
