The asteroid which is known as 216258 (2006 WH1), will be seen to fly by the earth next week. La Sagra observatory spotted this asteroid first in 2006. This asteroid has been classified as potentially hazardous asteroid (PHA) that indicates that distance between earth and asteroid is at warning level. As it is said by NASA’s CNEOS, the 216258 (2006 WH 1) will move on the path that directly intersects with the Earth’s orbit. Currently, it is moving towards earth at a speed of 26,000 miles per hour. It is said that it is even taller than the Wills Tower in Chicago or the Empire State building at New York. The asteroid possesses a diameter of 1,722 feet. Due to its huge size and intersecting orbit, it is potentially a great threat and can result in the destruction of some cities. It is estimated that if it hits the earth, multiple cities will have to bear the consequences. it is revealed in the media that its closest approach that has been observed, the asteroid is around 0.03904 astronomical units or around 3.6 million miles away from the center of the earth, CNEOS reported.

The NASA informed that the potentially hazardous asteroids (PHAs) have been identified currently into the category after accounting the parameters to measure the potential of the asteroid to come threatening close to the earth. All the asteroids which having the minimum intersection of the orbital path of the planet of around 0.05 or less and has an absolute magnitude of 22.0 or less put into PHAs category.

216258 (2006 WH1) asteroid is moving in a wide orbit and in its orbit, the orbits of other cosmic bodies intersect like Venus, mercury and also the sun. the 216258 (2006 WH1) asteroid is from the Apollos family of asteroids.
