Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, a scheme launched to empower women in the countryside of the India. PMUY was launched On 1st may, 2016 by the prime minister of the India, Narendra Modi. In PMUY, 50 million LPG connections were aimed to provide to the female of the BPL families. Under this scheme, a budgetary allocation of Rs. 800 billion was reserved for this scheme. In the first year of its launch, there were 22 million connection s were distributed but only 15 million was estimated by the government. Among the total connections were issued, there were 44% of the total connection were issued to the scheduled caste and tribes. The total number of the connection issued crossed 58 million in the month of December of that year.
In the 2018 union budget of India, its scope was extended and it aimed to include around 80 million poor households. There were 21,000 awareness camps were programmed by oil marketing companies (OMCs). The implementation of this scheme led to the consumption of around 56% of LPG consumption in the present year 2019 as when it is compared with 2014. A point to be noted that the use of LPG gas stoves and cylinders hiked through the scheme, the use of LPG cylinders just low as it was.
How to Apply and Eligibility for The Scheme
The women candidate from BPL families are eligible to apply for this scheme. To apply, they need to fill Ujjwala Yojana KYC application form. The candidates need to fill a two-page application form and they will be required to attached some documents with their application form.
