PUBG Ban News: We know that the Indian Government has imposed a ban on Chinese apps in 2020 after the outbreak of coronavirus, which ultimately resulted in the PUBG ban in India. Although, this year Krafton has relaunched the game in the new avatar with lots of commonalities and differences. The Indian government put a PUBG Mobile ban and similar applications last year on worries about national security and data privacy breaches, as well as issues of addiction among youngsters, financial loss, self-harm, suicides, and murders.
The launch of Battlegrounds Mobile India has been faced with criticism from a variety of quarters, including legislators who oppose the game’s distribution. Despite the fact that both PUBG Mobile and Battlegrounds Mobile India are published by Krafton in South Korea, requests for a ban have risen as the game’s popularity has increased – it got 20 million pre-registrations on the Google Play Store in less than two weeks last month.
PUBG is going to relaunching in India by Krafton. In India, however, no authorization has been obtained for the reintroduction of this prohibited game.
Dr. Gaurav Tyagi’s RTI on PUBG Ban India
National security specialist Dr. Gaurav Tyagi, an Assistant Professor at JNU’s Special Centre for National Security Studies, made the discovery in answer to an RTI and stressed PUBG mobile game ban before its launching.
Dr. Tyagi had submitted RTIs with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) seeking records related to the relaunch of PUBG Mobile, as part of his research on Chinese firms’ exploitative tactics in India. However, none of these ministries has provided particular authorization for the game’s restart. But according to a response from MHA, the game cannot be prohibited until it is formally launched in the nation. But once it is, it may be prohibited under section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
The prohibited apps with a modified name and structure look to be in breach because no authorization has been obtained. Furthermore, Tencent is Krafton’s second-largest shareholder, and the two companies will share data.
